Why Does Heritage Matter?

Join Caitlin Mitropoulos as she provides her perspective on why heritage matters, exploring case studies for particular places that have come under threat in recent times, focusing specifically on the communities that have rallied to save these places, and their reasoning and motivations for doing so.

As Victoria’s premier heritage advocacy and conservation organisation, the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) has an interest in ensuring that a wide range of natural, cultural, social and Indigenous heritage values of the state are protected and respected. These heritage values can be both tangible and intangible, tied to the fabric of historic places but also to the memory and identity of communities.
