Stardust/The Mission

Family secrets are revealed in Stardust and The Mission, brought to the stage as a double feature.

Originally airing as a “radio cabaret documentary” on ABC Radio National, Stardust tells the story of esteemed Victorian jazz musician, Col Brain, with his grandson, Joel Carnegie on a quest to uncover what Col wanted us to know about life through the things he left behind.

Writer of the play The Mission, Tom Molyneux, was inspired by the life story of his relative, Gunditjmara man Allan McDonald. The solo documentary theatre performance follows the journey of one of Victoria’s first Indigenous soldiers to enlist for WWI, tracing an account of a soldier at war both at home and abroad.
