Katie Noonan's Elixir

Katie Noonan’s Elixir brings Michael Leunig’s poems to life in a performance that combines music, spoken word and visual art.

Elixir was formed by Katie Noonan and her husband, saxophonist Zac Hurren, in 1997. Together they create soulful music that emphasises Katie’s angelic voice. Inspired by Michael Leunig’s poetry, the musicians of Elixir have composed music to accompany the prose, with a special focus on the theme of gratitude and grief.

Allow yourself to become entranced as Katie sings Leunig’s words to original compositions, accompanied by the artist’s otherworldly drawings. This performance will provide a rare opportunity to explore Leunig’s themes of humanity and loss through Elixir’s emotionally powerful jazz.
